As checking account holders continue to express their frustration over mounting fees at regional and national banks, CU Community Credit Union launches CardCash--a program that allows customers the ability to earn cash for their everyday debit card purchases.
Starting on October 6, 2011, CU Community customers will automatically earn cash rewards on eligible non-pin purchases and the earnings will be credited to their checking accounts. Customers with multiple debit cards linked to a single checking account can use their combined purchase power to get to the $500 cash back more quickly.
"We already offer our customers free checking accounts and debit cards, which are becoming less common among financial institutions today, and now we are also rewarding our customers for using their CU Community debit card for all of their day-to-day spending," says CU Community President and CEO Judy Hadsall.
A smarter, more profitable relationship
As reports continue to pile in about large banks increasing checking fees, instituting debit card fees and cutting debit rewards, there is a window of opportunity for CU Community Credit Union to reward customer loyalty.
"It's a win-win for the customer," Hadsall says. "Not only do our customers get free checking accounts and debit cards with no monthly maintenance fees, we are also giving them cash back for using their debit cards. Everyone is pinching pennies during these tough economic times, and this is another way we can help people stretch their dollars a little further."
