Second graders at Boyd Elementary School received a special visit from Santa on December 16. For the eleventh year in a row, employees at CU Community Credit Union adopted the second grade classes, providing toys, warm clothing and other items to the children.
Credit union employees raised more than $3,200 for this fundraiser. This year, there are nearly 40 second grade students in two classes at Boyd Elementary.
“The holiday gift drive for Boyd Elementary is something the employees at CU Community Credit Union look forward to each year,” said Stephanie Thomas, senior loan officer for CU Community. “It’s nice to be able to reach out and help kids who may not have the opportunity to have a good Christmas because their families are struggling financially. We love taking part in this tradition of giving the kids things they need plus a few fun surprises”
A number of community partners made the gift drive possible, including American Legion Post 69; Delta Dental; Dr. Bradley Newberry, DDS; Great American Title; Kickapoo Bingo; Linda’s Flowers; Little Caesars Pizza; Meridian Title; Mettemeyer Engineering; Panera Bread; Ozark Mountain Popcorn; Queen City Propane and Route 66 Warranty. Thank you also to all the CU Community members to helped us raise funds to purchase gifts!
